Welsh Hills Inn: Granville, OH

Be still my heart. I’ve been researching inns and b&b’s in the Granville area for future workshops and retreats and came across a place like none other. Welsh Hills Inn is ranked as the top lodging location in the entire state on TripAdvisor.com, and for good reason. This place is an absolute gem.

The property features a pond, ducks, nature trails, lit bocci ball court, pool (+ pool house) and a spacious home sitting on five acres of countryside. So many artifacts and art pieces in the home look as if they belong in a museum. I actually recognized a piece by Aminah Robinson which the inn has loaned out to museums on a few occasions (her work was featured in an exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art this past year). Behind the baby grand piano hung a collection of paintings by local resident and artist extraordinaire, Paul Hamilton.

Jeff, the owner who showed me around, mentioned his appreciation for all-things Granville. Aside from local art; fresh eggs, farmers market produce, teas, and Gouma’s chocolates are just a few nods to the community you’ll find at Welsh Hills Inn. And, as a true testament (so you don’t think I just write these things out of sheer politeness), I even commented on how I could see myself staying here despite living just 5 miles away! This evening Ryan told me that he felt the same way and has already reserved a couple nights for our twelve year wedding anniversary.

So, from the bottom of my heart to my virtual, photography friends, when you see any workshop or retreat I may post at this location, your lodging alone will be worth the trip!
