I went for a walk today in the creek and am a little heartbroken that it’s almost entirely dried up. There are just a few small pools of water, stocked full of small fish. I wouldn’t be surprised if two of these spots dry up completely in the next week or so: I’m going to try and rescue some of the fish by relocating them to the deepest area of water. (If anyone in Granville is reading this and happens to own a fishing net, let me know!)
With the water drying up, it’s much easier to cross to the other side of our property now, especially now that I’ve also made a path through the tall weeds (since summer growth kicked in, it’s been really difficult to get over there with my camera equipment, let alone clients). There’s a fenced-in paddock on that other side of land that looks absolutely magical in the afterglow of sunset. The tips of the grasses are a soft, rusty color. Combine that with a wash of orange light from the horizon and it looks like the cover of a fantasy book!
I’m hoping someone (perhaps a senior or certainly a couple; married or soon-to-be) falls as much in love with this area as I have and is up for hopping into this fenced area, wading through the shoulder-high grasses and even laying down among them. If that “someone” sounds like you, feel free to send Ryan an e-mail. We’ll waive your session fee for an abbreviated shoot across the creek (adults or high school seniors only)…scheduled just before the sun sets. Will you be the one(s) we see?
