I’ve always been curious as to why so many families are so diligent in having up-to-date portraits while they have newborns and toddlers but, it seems to me, that the documentation of those memories die down as the children get older (more activities and schedule conflicts is my best guess??). When I get the chance to photograph older kids, it’s an incredible treat: I’m so glad that this family wanted to capture this “coming of age” period of their kids’ lives.
P & J are just filled with the vibrance and beauty of youth. They both have their own, unique creative spirit and are quite musically adept (I think I photographed them with at least four different instruments!). During one set in particular, these two played their stringed instruments together and I could feel goosebumps start to rise. Even while the kids and I were photographing with nothing in hand, you could hear their dad playing a guitar from afar…it was the perfect soundtrack for the most lovely evening. I could have stretched this session out for hours and hours!
