The End of a Season

Today’s was the perfect session to end our 2011 season with. This family brought along a portrait taken ten years ago of father and sons and asked me to recreate something similar now that the boys are older. It was such a quiet session compared to what normally takes place within these walls; almost reverent. While the family took this time to celebrate their growth over the past decade of their life together, I reflected on the past three years I’ve worked in our studio space.

Growth is bittersweet. There is something amazing in your possession (be it an object or state of being) and you don’t ever want to let it go. This is precisely why we freeze moments in the form of photographs, stories and film. At the same time, there’s so much more out there yet to be experienced, just hanging low on a bough, waiting to be plucked.

This isn’t the end of the story. It’s just a new chapter.
