“Collina” by Sir Joshua Reynolds, 1779
Sigh. Ryan and I have made a list of restaurants and venues around Columbus that we need to visit by the end of the year before we make our big move to Franklin, Tennessee. Last week we visited the Columbus Museum of Art, possibly for the very last time (weep!). Without hesitation, I can say that this portrait is my favorite piece in the entire museum. I gasp every time I see it and just have to stand there a few moments to soak it in. I love the color palette, overall softness of the image, those rosy cheeks, the child’s expression, the turn of her feet, and, most of all, the color & texture of the sky (for which this digital image doesn’t do it justice). I’m posting here so I can always come back and refer to this image; though it will never be quite the same as experiencing the real thing.
