I’ve enjoyed a mellow spring, trying my best to squeeze as much enjoyment out of any free time I may have. A couple days ago, it normally would have seemed like the day was coming to a close, but there was still about half an hour before the sun dropped beneath the horizon. That was just enough time to drive out to a nearby lake and feel the cool darkness begin to settle in. I ordered a cappuccino on the road to help keep warm.

I hope we’re through the last of the cold nights. All signs point to warmer weather, especially with our schedule picking up: we’re now booking into June and July. Denison just had their graduation and this Saturday marks the very first Farmer’s Market for the growing season. If you haven’t had a chance to schedule family, senior or maternity portraits, be sure to reach out to us soon. Spring here was (is) absolutely glorious with blooms bursting from the trees, but summer should be grand as well. I’ve planted oodles of wildflowers and carved out new, romantically winding trails in each of our pastures. REGISTRATION OPEN

Here is the basic info for registration of our GROW event the weekend of June 21st. If you would like to reserve one of the 7 spots available or review a timeline with more information, simply send an e-mail request to info@atelierofgranville.com. We hope to host similar events in the future and are offering GROW at an introductory rate for our first journey together.

Also, just to clarify, this is *not* a photography workshop. While you’re more than welcome to bring a camera, the focus in this experience is an internal one that may be especially fitting for someone on the verge of a transition or searching for some silence and simplicity.

Travel Sessions

We’re getting closer to our trip for some East Coast travel sessions. There’s an extra day at the beginning of our trip and a couple more we can tag onto the end. Plus, I’m hoping to get to a few other cities this summer for special projects and would love to commission sessions in those areas while I’m away. Rainy Day

…another image created at After Dark during a class where I shared some of my personal tips and tricks of photographing children on-location. I spent a lot more time speaking than photographing during this class since the rain decided to fall quite heavily during most of the session. These sweet little girls were such troopers!

Otterbein Event Tonight

Ryan and I will be on-campus tonight at Otterbein University from 5-6:30pm. We’ve invited a few college friends and professors for this very intimate and casual show and I nearly forgot to post something here on the blog! Any Day Now

This may be the latest maternity session we’ve squeezed in here at Atelier. This graceful mother-to-be has a due date of tomorrow! While we moved around a lot less than what someone 7-8 months along may, you would never guess she was so far along by her demeanor. Adding to the experience was perfect evening weather and a calming quiet here in Granville.

Keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks for an update with some newborn photography!

Peace Like a River

This baby girl has one of the most beautiful names: River. On my way home from this newborn session, all I could think of was the song that goes, “I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.” A scheduled tennis practice, soccer game, playing in the park and visiting neighbor kids filled the air with energy and hubbub around the house, but while the camera was clicking away, the shutter was the only sound. During her moments of slumber, we had a very peaceful River.
