Amy Parrish is an internationally-exhibited artist who has served as Director of Operations and instructor for The Light Space; a program offering photography training to young women affected by the commercialized sex trade and to staff members of anti-trafficking organizations. In between long-term projects in India and Thailand, she focuses on her craft in Midcoast Maine, travels extensively across the US and writes reviews for LensCulture.com, a global platform for contemporary photographers.

Through the previous decade, Parrish worked as an award-winning portrait photographer, teaching other professionals within the industry through conferences, workshops, and other venues. Her work was filmed for two seasons of Photovision and awarded “Best in Portrait” in WPPI’s digital photography competition.

In 2014 her focus shifted from commercial work to very personal, hand-processed image-making. Her fine art imagery has been awarded the Julia Margaret Cameron Award as well as receiving recognition in several other juried selections and publications. By 2016 Parrish began exploring poetic form. Early work in creative nonfiction literature was recognized through the Highest Honors award within the Honors program during her academic career, and she was twice selected to read memoir excerpts with The Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature.
